Arsenal's Carling Cup final ratings |
he young Gunners did themselves proud mostly, see our ratings below:
Almunia: 5 - should have saved Drogba's first goal and is not good enough to replace Lehmann as first choice next season.
Hoyte: 7 - not quite Lauren's standard yet, but defensively reasonably sound.
Toure: 8 - fought bravely until his dismissal.
Senderos: 7 - got beaten in the air by Drogba for the winner, but made some telling blocks. Probably should not be ahead of Djourou in the pecking order though.
Traore: 7 - attacked with pace and trickery, but was at fault for Chelsea's first goal.
Walcott: 7 - superby taken goal and caused Bridge some problems at the back.
Fabregas: 7 - looking a bit jaded, but still a class act.
Denilson: 7 - a couple of sloppy balls, but some great vision at times too.
Diaby: 7 - good feet but a bit injury prone. Also not at his best on left side of midfield.
Baptista: 6 - never really made an impact, apart from one great shot that Cech kept out. Not looking quite good enough to become a first team regular.
Aliadiere: 5 - ran his heart out, but is not penetrative enough to become a top Arsenal striker.
Subs: Eboue: 5 - didn't do anything significant. Hleb: 5 - see Eboue. Adebayor: 4 - a top player, but had no chance to show it thanks to poor officiating.
Wenger: 5 - selected a good starting XI, but dismantled it with poor substitutions. Taking off Traore was a major mistake, as the young left back helped keep Chelsea on the back foot.
